Electric drivetrain
As of: September 11, 2026
The electric powertrain of a commercial vehicle includes the electric machine, power electronics, transmission, high-voltage distribution, and control software. Unlike with internal combustion engines, exhaust gas aftertreatment, starter motors, alternators, and multi-speed manual transmissions are eliminated. The number of moving parts is significantly reduced, while the importance of software increases accordingly.
Design of the new generation
The new generation of the HEERO brand is designed with rear-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive is the more resilient design in loaded commercial vehicle operation. All-wheel drive is not planned. HEERO Motors will publish performance specifications after the validation is completed.
Why rear-wheel drive in commercial vehicles
Rear-wheel drive improves traction when loaded because the axle load on the driven axle increases with the payload. With front-wheel drive, the opposite is true: the heavier the vehicle is loaded, the lower the traction on the drive axle. For a chassis that is regularly operated close to its gross vehicle weight rating, rear-wheel drive is the more resilient design.
What was built in the generation up to 2026
In HEERO brand vehicles up to 2026, drive software, power electronics, and hardware were developed as a coherent system and not combined from purchased components.
Demarcation
No hybrid drive. No fuel cell drive. No range extender. No all-wheel drive.
