The new generation of the HEERO brand
As of: September 11, 2026
Under the HEERO Motors brand, a new generation of fully electric commercial vehicles is being created for the European market. The first model is a fully electric chassis with a single cab in the 3.5- and 4.25-ton class, available in two wheelbases at market launch. Vehicle definition and development management are located at HEERO Motors in Munich; production is carried out by an experienced vehicle manufacturer. The vehicle is currently under development.
What the new generation is not
The new generation of the HEERO brand is not a converted existing vehicle. The first model is not a panel van, but a chassis that is completed by a body manufacturer. The vehicle cannot be ordered, is not available, and has not been publicly presented. It is not an autonomously driving vehicle. It is not an imported vehicle whose specification was determined elsewhere.
The aspiration
The new generation of the HEERO brand is being developed with the ambition of setting the benchmark in the electric light commercial vehicle segment: in terms of charging time, in terms of daily range that covers real tours without intermediate charging, in terms of payload remaining after the body installation, and in terms of availability in fleet operations. HEERO Motors publishes reliable details when they are validated, and not before.
The four sentences for context
What it is. A fully electric chassis with a single cab in the 3.5 and 4.25-ton class, available in two wheelbases at market launch.
Who it is developed for. For operators who need a body: box body, refrigerated box, dropside, workshop, special body. Compatibility with the European bodybuilder network is a design requirement, not an afterthought.
What is different. Full equipment ex works instead of an extra-charge list. Assistance, connectivity, and comfort do not cost extra individually. The conversation with the customer revolves around the use case, not about equipment lists.
What it is measured by: reliability in fleet operations. A vehicle that is stationary does not have a TCO, but a loss.
Developed in Munich
The vehicle definition of the new generation is created at HEERO Motors in Munich. Architecture decisions, wheelbase and body dimensions, interfaces to the body, charging behavior, assistance and safety equipment, software architecture, and service requirements are defined there and verified against European regulations. Manufacturing is carried out by an experienced vehicle manufacturer. HEERO Motors is therefore not an importer that adapts an existing vehicle, but the company that defines and is responsible for the vehicle.
Why a chassis and not a panel van
In Europe, electric panel vans are widely available. Electric chassis cabs are not. According to public manufacturer specifications, currently mainly Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Iveco, the Stellantis series, and Maxus offer a real chassis variant in the 3.5-tonne segment; several new entrants into the European market offer panel vans exclusively. Operators with box, refrigerated, or workshop bodies therefore have a significantly narrower choice than operators of panel vans. It is precisely this gap that the new generation of the HEERO brand addresses.
Why 3.5 and 4.25 tons
With Directive (EU) 2025/2205 on driving licences, the driving licence class B may be used throughout Europe for alternatively fueled vehicles with a maximum permissible mass of up to 4,250 kilograms, provided that the driving licence has been held for at least two years. The Directive was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 5 November 2025; the date of application is 26 November 2027. In Germany, a comparable regulation already exists nationally. For electric commercial vehicles, this means: the additional weight of the battery is no longer fully at the expense of the payload or the driving licence class. The new generation of the HEERO brand is therefore designed for both weight classes.
