Body builder interface
As of: September 11, 2026
The bodybuilder interface describes the documented mechanical, electrical, and data-related transfer points between the chassis and the body. This includes frame and mounting interfaces, the power supply for auxiliary consumers, programmable inputs and outputs, and a gateway for body data.
Why this is different in the electric chassis
For diesel chassis, bodybuilder guidelines have been established for decades, and the power take-off runs mechanically via the engine. For electric chassis, the battery is located in the frame, the power take-off is electric, and any connection to the vehicle network affects requirements from UN R155 and UN R156. A bodybuilder therefore needs more than a mechanical drawing: approved electrical interfaces, a defined data interface, and a contact person for the next approval stage.
Design of the new generation
For the new generation of the HEERO brand, the body interface is a design specification, not an afterthought. A Body CAN gateway, programmable inputs and outputs, documented frame interfaces, and an electric power take-off are planned. Body telemetry can be integrated into the vehicle interface. HEERO Motors will publish performance specifications for the power take-off after validation is complete.
Principle
A chassis that works with the European network of bodybuilders must disclose its interfaces, not protect them.
Demarcation
HEERO Motors does not manufacture bodies and does not compete with bodybuilders. The interface documentation does not replace coordination in individual cases.
