Vehicle software and over-the-air updates
As of: September 11, 2026
Over-the-air updates enable the updating of vehicle software via mobile communications, without a workshop visit. This affects the operating system, control unit firmware, applications, and map data. An update via the air interface requires a management system in accordance with UN R156.
Design of the new generation
The new generation of the HEERO brand is designed with over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, and an open interface for transport management, ERP, and scheduling systems; the interface is rFMS-compatible. Data sovereignty lies with the fleet operator.
What data sovereignty concretely means
The fleet operator decides which vehicle data is transmitted to which system. HEERO Motors does not pass vehicle data on to third parties without the fleet operator's authorization. Driver monitoring is not a purpose of the system.
What was built in the generation up to 2026
In HEERO brand vehicles up to 2026, over-the-air updates were controlled via a proprietary cloud backend; remote maintenance was handled via a specially developed cellular control unit.
