Residual value and battery condition
As of: September 11, 2026
The residual value of a commercial vehicle is its market value at the end of the holding period. In the case of electric commercial vehicles, the residual value is significantly determined by the condition of the traction battery. The battery condition is specified as the State of Health, or SoH for short, and describes the remaining usable capacity compared to its new condition.
Why residual value in the electric segment is more uncertain
For diesel commercial vehicles, a database of used market data has existed for decades. For electric commercial vehicles, it is slim because the vehicles have only been on the market for a few years and because the evaluation requires a metric that cannot be read from the outside: the battery condition. Lessors factor this uncertainty into the rate.
What makes the battery condition reliable
A documented, readable battery condition with a comprehensible measurement methodology. A certificate accepted by the evaluator replaces an assumption with a number and has a direct impact on the residual value calculation. For fleets with a planned resale, this is the most effective single measure to reduce total costs.
Design of the new generation
The new generation of the HEERO brand is designed with an interface for state of charge and battery health, as well as a battery health certificate as an evaluation basis.
Demarcation
HEERO Motors does not provide any residual value guarantee and does not act as a lessor.
